On Saturday 26th May Mahdlo teamed up with The Oldham College to showcase some of Oldham’s finest young muscians. Level 2 and 3 performing arts students from the College put on a great show for over 100 Mahdlo members.
The first band up were Talk Tomorrow who kicked off procedings with a cracking set including ‘You Got the Love’, ‘Dancing in the Moonlight’, ‘summer of 69′ and ‘Set Fire to the rain’.
Next up were JCP with their Artic Monkey’s tribute set including ‘Fluorescent Adolescent’, ‘Bet You Look Good’ and ‘Brianstorm’ followed by Living Colour whose set included a great cover of Cindy Lauper’s ‘Girl’s Just Wanna Have Fun’.
The Pretty Visitors treated us to a set including ‘She Hates Me, I Don’t Want to Be’ and finished with a very accomplished cover of Pearl Jam’s ‘Alive’.
The battle of the bands was rounded off by ‘Various Artists’ whose female vocal duo gave a great performance of Lady Gaga’s ‘Poker Face’.
A great night was had by all, many thanks to Liz Halliday from The Oldham College and all the students for such a good night!
