Welcome to the first in the series of regular features from the team behind Mahdlo. In their own words, the Mahdlo team will tell you what it is like working right in the middle of the action.
Paul Burgess – Activity Worker
“Working at Mahdlo has always been challenging and rewarding, every single day of the week. Sundays however are by far the most interesting, diverse and ultimately rewarding days. At least from this activity workers perspective.
The family sessions on Sunday mornings are always a joy to be a part of. Working Parents rarely get time to spend having fun, relaxing with their children, yet that is what these morning sessions are all about.
A chance to unwind from the week at work and school, and to really interact play games, sports, take part in arts and crafts, and all of this as a family. Sometimes, our most important job on a Sunday morning is to take a back seat. Of course we staff are always there, in the background for the most part, making sure everyone has what they need, and simply enjoying seeing families spend some quality time together. It really can be wonderful.
Sunday afternoons are a very different dynamic, and yet no less wonderful. Ability family sessions are about just that. Bringing people together of all different needs, be they additional or none existent, to be independent.
The things we all get up to during these sessions can be a barrel of fun, and almost always are. With a fantastic new range of sensory toys and items to fill the gaps we once had, there is literally something for everyone on Sundays at Mahdlo. You should join us. We’d love to see you.”
