On Saturday 20th September, Oldham Council and Peace Talks Oldham held an event to celebrate International Peace Day. Mahdlo supported the event by taking along a pop-up Arts and Crafts workshop for people to get involved in.
Situated outside the Gallery the idea was for people to create images and pictures with their own interpretations and symbols of peace on to white textile using fabric crayons , paints and glitter. Around 36 people of all ages participated and the intention is to join them together to create one flag symbolising Peace which will either be hung in the Gallery or here at Mahdlo. As the event was so popular, our Senior members created more of these peace symbols in their Monday night session with visual artist, Fanny Gogh. Here are some of their pieces:
