Christmas isn’t bought, it’s built.
Built from paper stars that never quite sit straight, from cardboard crafts covered in too much glue, from jokes that make everyone groan but still laugh anyway. It’s built from moments that don’t cost a thing: a chat, a smile or sometimes, just a bit of kindness that makes someone’s day.
This Christmas, we’re helping young people and their families build memories that last a lot longer than the wrapping paper…
Mahdlo sits at the heart of Oldham Town Centre, a community recently ranked among the 5% most deprived areas in the UK. This year, many families face a Christmas overshadowed by rising costs. With parents already struggling to afford food, heating and bills, the festive season will be especially difficult. Our mission is clear – to bring joy and relief to as many young people as possible.
Every act of kindness counts. Whether you make a donation, sponsor an activity from our calendar below, rent your very own Mahdlo elf or sponsor a bauble on the tree, together we can ensure that every young person in Oldham feels valued and supported this Christmas.

Christmas Fundraising Ideas:
Instead of swapping Christmas Cards this year why not make a donation?
Organise a Christmas themed bake sale.
Host a Christmas movie night and ask your friends to make a donation the price of a cinema ticket.
Hold a decorate you desk competition and ask for a donation to enter.
Festive fancy dress or jumper day.
Take on an advent challenge! Try a daily challenge on the run up to Christmas, for example running 5k everyday or giving up chocolate (we know which one will be the hardest).
