Support from Tesco Oldham

We are delighted that Tesco stores across Oldham are encouraging local businesses to support the work we do with young people across the town.

The stores are supporting our quarterly Business Breakfasts, which enable us to engage with companies about the work we carry out in the community.

Claire Crossfield, Development Manager here at Mahdlo said: “The business breakfasts are a great way for us to engage with businesses that are not yet working with us, to explore the many opportunities available. As well as monetary donations, businesses help us through supporting our employability programmes with workplace visits, inspirational talks, work experience, advice on CV writing and interviews and in some cases providing apprenticeships for our young people.

“The fact that Tesco are heavily involved in supporting us and sponsoring the Business Breakfasts and providing the refreshments sends out a strong message to the local business community and we are very grateful for their involvement.”

To mark the support from Tesco, Marie Toora and Andrew Brown, store managers of the Chadderton and Huddersfield Road stores, visited Mahdlo at our January Business Breakfast (pictured below with our Chairman, Terry Flanagan).

Andrew Brown said: “As a major employer locally, we are always keen to support the business community and local economy. It is great to spend some time with members of local businesses and encourage them to get more involved in the work Mahdlo does.”

Marie Toora said: “Our Oldham store teams are delighted to be supporting Mahdlo’s Business Breakfast events. Mahdlo provides high quality activities and experiences for young people and we wanted to thank them for their hard work and also get involved in their outstanding programme.”

The sponsorship of our Business Breakfasts is part of ongoing support Tesco are providing for Mahdlo, which also includes helping with its 5th birthday party celebrations in March, awards ceremonies for staff and patrons and sponsoring the six-week Children’s Able and Disabled Sports event during the school summer holidays. At the end of 2016, staff from local stores put big smiles on the faces of Mahdlo members and their families by supplying a £300 gift card and lots of selection boxes for our Family Christmas Party (main image).
