Our story

Mahdlo: Oldham’s no.1 venue for young people

Every young person in Oldham deserves the best start in life. Mahdlo Youth Zone opens the door to opportunity, inspiring our members to reach their potential whatever that may be.

We are committed to delivering exceptional youth work. At Mahdlo the possibilities are endless, from dunking hoops to dropping beats, climbing walls to cooking meals, performing arts to nail art. For just 50p per visit, we provide a safe space for our members to use their boundless imagination; 7 days a week,  52 weeks a year – we’re here to give young people the opportunity to experience and achieve.

Our door is always open, so come on in!

Our history

Mahdlo is a registered charity dedicated to young people in Oldham aged 8 to 19 years, and up to 25 for those with a disability.

Part of the OnSide Network of Youth Zones, Mahdlo opened its doors in March 2012. As one of the original four myplace funded youth facilities, our mission has always been to provide affordable and fun opportunities that are dedicated to our borough’s young people.

This commitment ensures we keep our membership and entrance fees remain low. However to do this we rely on donations, grants and trusts and community fundraising. Find out more about our wonderful generous supporters and the many different ways they help us, and Oldham’s young people.

Likewise we have built a strong army of volunteers over the years. These local heroes bring a wealth of knowledge and experience, which ensures we can continue to deliver for our young people year after year.

Working in partnership

One thing we have learnt over the last decade is that there are a number of organisations delivering high quality services and facilities. Mahdlo has become part of this fabric of support for young people. Every year our partnerships get stronger and our offer grows. We always want to work together with local youth providers to deliver the best support.
