More than £20,000 raised on a night that had to be seen to be believed

Celebrating a significant birthday, like your 10th, is always a big deal. For Mahdlo, we knew we needed to do something big.

Pre-Covid, our annual Winter Balls had bigger and bigger themes and having had a couple of years to reflect, we thought maybe it was time to try something different. Something we’ve never done before.

That’s why we decided to keep our Senior Zone session during the ball, so all our guests could see what we do and how we support our members to create hundreds of exciting opportunities.

Over 170 people from businesses across Oldham turned out to support Mahdlo and raise money to secure more opportunities for our members.

When Mahdlo opened in 2012, we used the phrase “Turning Oldham on its head,” and this evening, we turned Senior Zone on its head. Adults were our young members. Our members managed the session and supported our guests!

Guests could get involved with karaoke, table football, and pool, join Lego Club in our state-of-the-art sensory room, and see what happens on a Senior Zone night.

A drinks reception with a difference and the perfect way to show why we open seven days a week and have almost 3,000 members!

With the event going on until late, we raised more than £20,000, which we’ll be using to create opportunities and fun activities for young people aged 8 to 19, or up to 25 with a disability, from across Oldham.
