Bill is one of Britain’s most active and prominent philanthropists. In the early 80’s he set up his own foodservice distribution company Holroyd Meek that by 1994 had had a turnover of £190m serving over 7,000 restaurants across the UK. In 1995, Booker acquired the company and Holroyd started his own investment company. Since then Bill has invested in over 25 start-up and second-stage companies.  Bill is the Chairman and Founder of the OnSide network of Youth Zones and in 2013 he was awarded a CBE for his charitable works.

Ian Hopkins QPM – Chief Constable Greater Manchester Police

Ian was appointed Chief Constable of GM Police in October 2015. He started his police career in Staffordshire in 1989 joining the Greater Manchester force in 2008. Ian has much experience of managing large events such as high profile football games as well as significant protests, firearms incidents and critical incidents. He is a Director of Marketing Manchester and the national lead for both the Policing of Party Political Conferences and Digital Engagement.  In 2016 Ian was awarded the Queen’s Police Medal for Distinguished Service.

John founded the online electrical retailer Appliances Online in 2000 and has led them from being a domestic retailer in the UK in a single category, to operating in the UK, Germany and the Netherlands selling more products from multiple categories.  The company rebranded as AO.com in 2013. They have operations in 18 locations, employ over 2,000 people and have revenue of £600 million.  John has been involved in the Bolton Lads and Girls Club for over 25 years, is Deputy Chairman of the OnSide youth network and a trustee of the AO Smile Foundation.
