Sports Workers / Sports Activity Workers

Sports Workers and Sports Activity Workers

We are looking to recruit two Sports Activity Workers / Sports Workers to join our successful sports team. You will deliver a range of exciting activity programmes that will challenge, stimulate and provide new opportunities, in line with Mahdlo’s Get Active (Sports) theme.

The ideal candidates will have a passion for Sport and a Level 2 Sports Leaders award or equivalent and will be able to work with young people aged 8-19 years (25 with a disability) both in groups and individually.
It is essential you have a passion for working positively with young people and delivering an excellent service.

You must also be committed to working within the spirit of Mahdlo’s core values – Pride, Respect, Inclusion, Dependability and Excellence – which describe how we do things.

£8.91 or £10.49 per hour (dependent on experience/responsibilities), 6 to 15 hour contracts available per week at various evening and weekend sessions.

The ideal candidate will hold a nationally recognised Level 2 Gym Instructor or Fitness Instructor qualification, will have practical experience of working in a gym and delivering gym and fitness sessions.

Health and Wellbeing Coordinator

Health and Wellbeing Coordinator

We are seeking to recruit an experienced, highly motivated and pro-active Health and Wellbeing Coordinator to join our successful team at Mahdlo Youth Zone on a 3-year fixed term contract.

The ideal candidate will be able to provide guidance, advice and support at an early stage, have a passion for Health and Wellbeing and will be able to deliver a wide range of Health and Wellbeing based activities to support Mahdlo Youth Zone to identify young people who may have experienced or are experiencing difficulties.

Benefit package

This role offers:

  • 33 days annual leave (including bank / public holidays) per annum

Volunteer Mentor

Volunteer Mentor

Since starting up in 2014, the mentoring project has helped young people from across the borough, and with a growing waiting list, new mentors are much needed.

To be a mentor you do not need a youth work background, you just need to be a positive role model and are available to give one to two hours a week on a one to one basis.

Mentors are from all walks of life but share a willingness to help young people through providing guidance and assistance with any difficulties they may be experiencing.

Recruitment for our next cohort of volunteer mentors starts in September 2021. We provide a full training programme for new mentors on the dates below.

Volunteer

We have loads of varied roles suitable for volunteers. If you are looking to develop your skills and confidence for work and have a few spare hours each week, you could join our team as a Mahdlo Volunteer. It’s a great way of developing your self-confidence, motivation and employability skills whilst making a real difference to the lives of our young members.

You can volunteer at Mahdlo if you are aged 16 or over and have left school.
