Inclusion Worker

Contract: Part Time
Pay: £9.50 per hour
Hours: 3 - 12 hours per week during evening and weekend sessions

Mahdlo Youth Zone is a state-of-the-art multi-million Pound location providing young people aged 8 to 19, and up to 25 for those with additional needs, engaging and exciting opportunities to try something new, seven days a week.

We’ve got incredible facilities including a 3G Multi Use Games Area (MUGA) pitch climbing wall, boxing gym, three court sports hall, sensory room, fully equipped gym including weightlifting equipment, recreation area and dance, arts, music and media suites and much more.

The role

We have a number of hours available for an Inclusion Worker to engage and build rapport with young people with additional needs or a disability, supporting them to achieve their full potential to take part in Mahdlo Youth Zone’s exciting and vibrant offer. Committed to promoting cohesion and inclusion, you will work in a ‘person centred’ way and use your own initiative to meet a range of needs.

The ideal candidate will have experience of working with young people with disabilities and/or additional needs, together with the ability to plan and deliver activity sessions for those with a wide range of abilities. With a good knowledge of health and safety, you will maintain safeguarding best practice and will be confident in managing a group of young people, especially those with challenging behaviour.

It is essential you have a passion for working positively with young people and delivering an excellent service.

Your responsibilities will be to:

  • To support children and young people (8-12 and 13-25 years) with disabilities and additional needs to access the full offer at Mahdlo Youth Zone.
  • To plan, lead and deliver safe and structured inclusive activity sessions to meet the needs of a wide range of abilities.
  • To actively engage and build rapport with young people to foster a positive relationship
  • Use appropriate communication techniques to support a range of needs and abilities
  • Communicate effectively with team members and other staff / volunteers in maintaining and developing standards.

In accordance with Mahdlo’s Child Protection and Safeguarding procedures, this position requires an enhanced DBS check and will require you to complete Safeguarding training within three months of appointment and refresher training thereafter.
